What does it mean to spend time with the Lord?
In our study of the Bible these last few weeks, we were impressed to see that in order to grow in life and participate in the building up of the Body of Christ, we need to be those who spend much time with the Lord. This thought can be traced throughout the entire Bible. In Psalm 42, the Psalmist speaks of his soul being thirsty for God. He asks: ‘When will I come and appear before Jehovah?’ (v.7). As Christians, we must be those who come and appear before God. An important time to do this is early in the morning. During this time we can satisfy our thirst by drinking the Lord through prayer, singing, and reading the Bible. Then in the New Testament, the Lord charges us to enter into our private room and pray to the Father who is in secret (Matt.6:6). When we do this, we receive some secret enjoyment of the Father and some secret answer from Him. May we be those who come and appear before the Lord and receive much private, secret enjoyment of Him.
